Glass / Heels – is an ongoing performance inquiry investigating how the body negotiates unstable conditions. The work continues to be developed as part of a larger full-length project.
Risk assessment functions as choreographic language. Without the heels, the body can walk across the broken glass. Once worn, standing becomes unstable. Decisions around placement, weight, duration, and force are made in real time, as movement shifts to rolling, lowering, and rerouting weight through alternative pathways. Technique develops through repetition, restraint, and calibrated contact. Glass and heels function not as props but as working conditions, requiring slowness and continual reorganisation.
The elevation of the heel produces a sculptural line set against the broken surface below, holding poise and fracture in the same frame. The work operates between these two modes, positioning the audience within that tension rather than offering resolution.
The audience witnesses process, restraint, and consequence as they unfold.
