Body Fiction (2023)

Body Fiction is a full-length performance by Skye Gellmann and Yolanda Frost, drawing on their shared experience as queer life models. The work begins with the body posed, observed and translated into an image.

Poses repeat, shift and begin again. Objects are used in ways they were never intended to be used. As bodies and objects are rearranged, familiar images appear and then stop making sense in the same way.

Live percussion is part of the action, shifting its pace and redirecting attention between bodies, objects and sound.

Body Fiction works with the systems through which bodies are read: the poses they hold, the objects around them and the way they are seen. These relationships keep changing, moving between stillness and action without settling into a single image, story or identity.
